Anaheim (USA), Aug 14 (EFE) – Disney dazzled on Friday night at a massive event attended by Hollywood stars such as Anne Hathaway, Jodie Foster and Ryan Gosling to present its highly anticipated new films and television releases, including the return of the hit series ‘Zootopia’ (‘Zootrópolis’), the Mexican film ‘Coco’ and ‘Frozen’, as well as new original movies that promise to shape the future of the entertainment giant.

The company kicked off the first day of D23, Disney’s biggest official convention, with an entertainment panel that has become one of the most anticipated in the industry for bringing together all the announcements about the studios’ upcoming film and television developments.

The main stage, the massive Honda Center, was transformed into a catwalk of celebrities who gradually revealed details of the productions most anticipated by fans of the franchise.

Hathaway whetted appetites by announcing that “it won’t be long” until one of the most anticipated returns, the third ‘Princess Diaries’ film, whose release is scheduled for next year. Following this, it was announced that the second installment of ‘Coco’—set during the traditional Day of the Dead celebration, one of Mexico’s most popular holidays—will jump into adolescence.

Amid announcements such as the preview of the new season of ‘The Simpsons’ for September, familiar faces gradually appeared on stage.

Some were as eagerly awaited as the Jonas Brothers, who passed the torch of ‘Camp Rock’ to a new generation; others were as surprising as the one starring ‘Friends’ star Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino, who appeared dressed as Romy and Michele to offer a preview of their comedy.

Pixar, for its part, coinciding with its 40th anniversary, unveiled a calendar of new releases ranging from ‘The Incredibles 3’, focused on the children of the family, who are now ready to act as superheroes; to the announcement of ‘Kingdom Hearts’ for the end of 2027, which will include a fourth film installment and an associated series.

The offer also reserved space for original proposals such as ‘Gatto’, by Enrico Casarosa, a story about a black cat set in Venice, or ‘Ghost Market’, scheduled for 2028, a supernatural adventure about a content creator from Chicago whose vacation in Hawaii takes a turn for the worse after stopping at a mysterious supermarket.

In the field of animation and live-action cinema, the surprises continued with the appearance of Queen Latifah to present the first images of ‘Ice Age: Boiling Point’, as well as the greeting from the team of ‘Rapunzel’ (‘Tangled’), starring Kathryn Hahn and filmed in emblematic monasteries, cathedrals and locations in Spain.

Marvel deploys its arsenal

Marvel put the finishing touch on the event with a series of announcements led by its president, Kevin Feige, which included the confirmation of Hugh Jackman’s participation alongside the X-Men and the Fantastic Four in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, a major event that brought together such iconic faces as Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr.

Meanwhile, Sadie Sink established herself as one of the main figures in the new stage of ‘Spider-Man’, Ryan Gosling toured the galaxy of ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ with the first images of the project and some details of the second season of ‘Ahsoka’ were revealed, which will feature the return of Anakin Skywalker.

The extensive announcement panel saved the best for last: the confirmation of the third installment of the successful ‘Zootopia’ (‘Zootrópolis’) and the first images of the new challenge that Anna and Elsa will have to overcome in ‘Frozen III’, which still does not have a release date.
